Knefeh Dough Recipe
Knefeh Dough-(Knefeh Na'ameh)
Knefeh is a traditional Middle Eastern dessert. It is very delicious, impressive, and simple to make.
This recipe is best to be filled with cheese( Ikawi, shellal, Mexican, or mozzarella cheese-or mix cheeses).
you can make it by simply chop shredded phyllo dough using food processor, or you can make it your own using fine semolina as I'm going to do today.
Knefeh Dough-(Knefeh Na'ameh)
Let's get all ready for Ramadan, and prepare this easy homemade Knefeh Dough!
Ingredients
- 2 cups fine semolina
1 cup all purpose flour
1 cup milk
1/2 cup melted butter
1 tbsp. corn flour
1 tbsp. granulated sugar
1/2 tbsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. orange blossom water or Rose water
Method
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- In a medium bowl, Mix together fine semolina, all purpose flour, corn flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add in melted butter , milk, and orange blossom water. Whisk until well combined.
- Spread the dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper (about 1 cm thickness)
- bake it for about 15-20 mins until the dough is dry(keeping eye on it , we don't want golden dough)
- let the dough cools down completely. break the dough into pieces. Using food processor or blender process the dough pieces until finely ground. Sieve the ground dough to get rid of the big pieces. (I process again the big pieces left in the sieve and pass it through the sieve to get a bigger quantity).--Now it's ready yo use.
