Crescent Rolls
Crescent Rolls
It's perfect for breakfasts, appetizers, or if you want it for desserts, you add chocolate or jam for the filling.
Cheesy Crescent Rolls:
I made them cheesy Crescent Rolls for the family.
Do you have crazy busy morning like us? If yes, you need to make these ahead, it will make your life so easy!!
Again I made them cheesy, you can choose your favorite filling! maybe nothing, just plain. But the greatest thing about this recipe is the dough itself.
Here's what you need to make the crescent rolls:1 1/4 cups to 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour or bread flour, 3/4 cup warm milk, 1 tsp yeast, 1 tbsp. butter plus 1 tbsp. more for brushing the dough when rolling out circle, 1/4 tsp salt. Egg wash or water for brushing and sesame seeds for garnish (optional).
For the filling, cheddar and mozzarellas cheese(or any of your favorite cheese). Maybe you want to add spinach, or olives, or maybe you make it pizza crescent rolls. YUM!
Homemade Crescent Rolls
Nothing is better than making bread at home. watching your family running to have a piece of bread that is warm and fresh.
How to make Crescent Rolls:
Flour. You will add 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 cups flour. I would start at the first cup, and add the rest gradually. The dough should be very soft not sticky at all.
If you feel your dough is to hard add 1 tbsp. milk or water at a time. I always say sticky dough better than hard dough, it's easier to add flour than dough, but no fail either way .
You'll cover the dough using plastic wrap, and let it rise for 45 minutes or until it has doubled in size.
Shape the dough. Once the dough has doubled in size. You'll roll the dough into circle. Brush the top with 1 tbsp. melted butter and then cut the circle dough like pizza.
From there you're going to add the cheese or your favorite filling on the wide end of the triangle. Roll up the triangle starting from the wide end and ending at the pointy end.
Proof. The crescent rolls get placed on baking sheet lined with parchment paper, then cover them using kitchen towel and let the rolls proof for about 30 mins.
Bake. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Brush the rolls with egg wash (egg +milk) and garnish some sesame seeds. Bake about 10 to 15 mins. you might need to broil a little to get that golden color on the top.
Can I Freeze Crescent rolls?
Make the dough and let it rise, and shape the rolls, stop and freeze.
When frozen, take them out a couple early to them proof (it will take longer obviously since the dough is frozen.
