Homemade Cocoa Bread
Homemade Cocoa Bread
Imagine you are making your own homemade bread. Imagine you are walking in your house and you are smelling fresh bread! INCREDIBLE.. the whole process.
Not only homemade bread taste better, but it is more nutritious and way cheaper from the one you buy. Make it and enjoy every step in it, and let everybody feel they are passing by bakery.
You might be thinking now, oh me making bread at home from scratch?
That sounds difficult. However, this couldn't be the truth. Making a homemade bread is very easy to make especially the bread loaf, or as we are going to make today (Homemade Cocoa Bread). The ingredients are very simple and it is always available in your closet. Also if you have Dough mixer, this will make your life easier too. Maybe the waiting time is a bit long (but not all the time) it really depends on the weather. Also there is always a way you can speed up the process of doubling your dough.
Ways to speed up the rise:
*You can speed it up with temperature by allowing your dough to rise in a warmer place, for example, near pre-heated oven, in the microwave but keeping the door open, or maybe in the oven with turning the light on.
This recipe is perfectly accurate, but I always say use your sense, feel it, touch it, Love It? then this is it.
I'm so excited to share my Homemade Cocoa Bread with you with much much love.
Let's dive in!
Makes 2 loaves
This homemade Cocoa Bread has a bit of sweetness from the honey, and I love the chocolatey flavor in it.
It's just perfect for any topping. I'm personally a big fan of labneh and zaatar and here how I topped mine. But you could do peanut butter and jelly, turkey, or even tuna.
Homemade Cocoa Bread
- 2 flour
- 1 3/4 cups whole wheat flour
- 2 1/4 tsp yeast
- 3 tbsp. coconut sugar( or brown sugar)
- 1 tbsp. cocoa powder
- 2 tsp instant coffee (I used decaf)
- 3 tbsp. honey
- 2 tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1 tsp salt
Instructions
- Place all dry ingredients into the bowl of your mixer( flour, whole wheat flour, cocoa powder, instant coffee, salt, and coconut sugar). In a separate bowl add the oil first and then use the same spoon to measure the honey( preventing from sticking the honey to the spoon). Stir the liquids until well combined.
- Using a dough hook, mix the dry ingredients on low speed for 15 seconds. Add the liquids to the mixer and mix for one minute on low speed as well until all ingredients are well combined. The dough should be soft but not sticky.
- nbsp;divide the dough into 2 equal sized pieces, and place them into 2 lightly-greased bread pan ( I used 9 inches bread pans) . cover and let rise in a warm place for about an hour or until double the size of the dough.
- Bake in a 350 degrees F oven for 25 to 35 minutes.
- Let cook for at least 15 minutes before slicing it. wrap it using plastic wrap once completely cooled.
Notes:
Sometimes I find that I need to use more flour and sometimes less , maybe it depends on the weather or how packed my cups are. the key is to have soft dough, BUT NOT STICKY.
