How I Became A Photographer?
How I Became A Photographer?
Hello! if you’re reading this, you are probably familiar with who I am. But some of you may not know the whole story of how I became Photographer!
I still remember those days at the school, when they bring Eye Dr. every year and they check our eyes, and I just wished they say something about my vision so I can wear eye glasses. I thought it can make me look cool.
Funny!
Time passed and I grew up. I attended the University , I was studying Business Administration. My eyesight was perfect, until the fourth semester. I noticed a problem with my eyes by squinting while I was in the class struggling to take the notes from the teacher, and while watching tv, also while reading.
I realized something was really wrong and then I knew I had Keratoconus.
I myself didn't heard about keratoconus and I didn't know anything about it. I spent lots of money here and there, and finally did the surgeries(CXL-CORNEAL CROSS LINKING and INTRACORNEAL RING) that my Doctor thought it will help and it didn't .
But I finally realized there was nothing I could do, but to live with what vision I had.
What is Keratoconus?
Keratoconus is a disorder of the eye which results in progressive thinning of the cornea. It may results in blurry vision, nearsightedness, astigmatism and light sensitivity.
The cornea has cone-shaped.
Simple glasses or contact lenses doesn’t correct the vision in this case. And I didn’t know about Piggy bag contact lenses until later...
YES!!! Keratoconus is the main reason how I became photographer.
Oh but how and I have blurry vission?
It was a chance to me to drop out from my University since I can’t make it anymore after struggling and failing in 2 classes.
I always wanted to be in the Art Domain, specifically DIRECTOR. But I didn't have the courage from my family to do that at all. Despite my dad is an artist, but it wasn’t his job,it was his hobby and his happy place.
Eye and Camera..
I found a big relationship between the eye and the camera itself. The focus in the eyes and the focus in the camera. I got so excited to know all about the camera (the body and the lens). how we make photograph? how we record moments?
Interesting!
Despite all the difficulties I faced while I was in the University I decided again for a new challenge and learn all about photography.
And here again I took one photography course confidently with my blurry vision.I learned the basics of photography.natural lighting and a little bit of studio strobes.
There I discover to where I belong, in that beautiful place escaping from the world .
I got my first camera ,was canon EOS 60D. I remember the first month I got it I sleep and the camera with me. I wanted to show my family my interest in photography.
We went photography trips with my teacher, It was so much fun meeting beginner and professional photographers. Despite what I struggled with my vision I had no fear holding my camera in my hand. I won't lie, most of the photograph I made were blurry.
But I learned that blurry is thing you can fix, and the most important in photography is how to make it impressive. Also, to get a good photo that tells a story is by combining good composition, action and emotions. These are important of story telling.
